Nel 1865 entrò in funzione la ferrovia Milano-Varese con stazione e scalo merci ad Albizzate. Negli anni ’90 scalo e centrale elettrica furono dismessi. Oggi la rimessa, abbandonata e pericolante, è frequentata da writers.
